Food Review: Neat Burgers – Soho, London

*Disclaimer – I ain’t no professional food critic, just a foodie giving her personal opinions*

Anyone looking for a new vegan burger joint in the heart of Soho? Well I got you covered! I stumbled across this place as I’m always taking a wander down Old Compton Street. With it’s bright pink signs, Neat Burgers was hard to miss!

The food

Rating: 5 out of 5.

What I’ve tried from the menu:

  • Cheeseburger – £9.49 (I added jalapeño’s for 50p)
  • Chick’n Burger – £9.49
  • Fries – £2.99
  • Tater Tots – £2.99 (I made it cheesy for an extra £1.50)
  • Diet Karma Cola – £2.99
  • Large Chocolate Shake – £5.99
  • Small Oreo Shake – £3.99

These plant-based burgers are some of the best I’ve ever tasted. I really enjoyed my cheeseburger and would definitely get it again and again. I even forgot that I was eating vegan cheese on my tater tots! You couldn’t really tell the difference and after the first few mouthfuls it slipped my mind that everything was plant-based.

The one thing I will say is that I didn’t enjoy the soft drinks they had on offer. They just personally were not for me. I always go diet coke because I don’t like sweet soft drinks, but even the diet cola was extremely sweet. My friends tried some of the milkshakes which were coconut milk based and super tasty. But after a while they did become a bit sickly. If you have a sweet tooth this is definitely for you. The chocolate one very much taste like a brownie, it was wonderful!

Value for money

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I think the food overall is great value for money. Vegan or vegetarian food can sometimes be so expensive for absolutely no reason. So it’s nice to find a burger place that is in line with other London burger joints. The only reason I’ve docked it a star is because all the drinks are all around £3 or more.

The portion sizes are very decently sized, and you get so many chips! It’s also nice that the sweet potato fries and tater tots aren’t more than the regular fries.

Service and atmosphere

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The staff were amazing and extremely helpful when we asked questions about the menu! They have self-service machines so you’re able to browse through the menu at your own pace too.

It’s also a really lovely place to sit in. The only way I can describe the decor is a 1950s diner with jungle vibes. Sounds strange, but it works!

Overall

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

I loved the food here and cannot wait to go back. It’s ethical, sustainable and, most importantly, it’s delicious! There’s still a few things I can’t wait to try on their menu. Luckily, it’s a spot that I frequently walk past so I guarantee that I will be back soon rather than later.

Dietary requirements

Unsurprisingly, the entire menu at Neat Burgers is suitable for vegetarians and vegans!
