We’re a couple of weeks into the new year now, which has given me a chance to think about the things I want to achieve this year. If I document them on my blog I feel more inclined to actually do them… so here we go:
Improve my guitar skills
Even though I’ve been playing guitar since I was eleven, in recent years I haven’t been playing as much as I would like to. And I miss it. So I’m going to start trying to play a little bit every day (or every other day). Even if it’s just for five minutes or so.
Learn more about photography
The really nice camera that I own? Yeah, I don’t know how to use it if my life depended on it. I’d really love to stop relying so much on automatic settings. I am also currently paying for an Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom subscription so I really need to make sure I’m getting my money’s worth.
Feel more comfortable within my new job
This isn’t to say I don’t feel comfortable at the moment, but my past year or so has been filled with a lot of upheaval and starting a new full-time job remotely has been a difficult adjustment. My new team is super supportive and I’m already getting the hang of everything, but I’m still struggling to feel relaxed. I know this probably comes with time and I’m really looking forward to getting to know my team, my role, and the company more.
Going on walks every other day
I was really into walking at the start of 2021 but by the end of the year I had pretty much stopped doing this. The positive impact going for a nice long walk in the morning can have on your mental health is astounding, so I really want to get back into this.
Scrap Journaling
Some of my friends got really into scrap journaling last year and I know I’d really love to do that also. I already have the stationary for it and have just ordered a new notebook! Sometimes I feel like I really need some sort of creative outlet and I love making scrapbooks in general so I’m very excited to get started.
Learning how to play piano properly
I’m the most basic of piano players ever. Despite having had lessons when I was younger I feel like I have only ever stayed at a really basic level. So I really want this to be the year I start to see some improvements!
Drink two litres of water every day
There was a time when I used to do this but recently I have been slacking. I felt a lot less tired whenever I was getting my two litres of water a day so here’s to stay hydrated for 2022!
Staying out of my reading slump
Being a university student doing a History degree really sucked the fun out of reading for me. I went from a teenager who used to read daily to an adult who barely read anything at all. Last year, I got out of my extended reading slump and I’m very excited to read more books than last year and smash my Goodreads reading challenge.
What are your goals for 2022? Let me know in the comments below!
Goals of 2022- I don’t really make many, but have some
1. 10 books
2. See at least one musical (yearly goal)- Frozen (hard to wait), and hopefully will add in Anastasia and Hadestown
When I was a teenager in high school, when it came to reading, I was only a little more close-minded to books
