7 European Destinations I Want To Visit Post-Pandemic

Does anyone else feel like travelling to other countries is a distant memory? Last year I had two holidays abroad cancelled. A year later I have still not booked any new travel plans over fears I would also have to abandon them. I had a few issues getting my money back for one of them so personally the risk doesn’t seem worth it at the moment.

I know I’m not the only person who had holidays disrupted over the past year though. We’re all well-overdue a little getaway. Once restrictions are lifted, I have a few places in mind of where I’d love to go. Some are places I’ve been before, others are places that have peaked my interest over the years.

PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC

This destination is top of my list as I was robbed of this trip last year. Prague has a certain charm that makes it impossible not to fall in love with. Last year was supposed to be my second time visiting but sadly it wasn’t meant to be. I’m looking forward to being able to rebook this trip and getting to explore this historic city once more!

REYKJAVÍK, ICELAND

Iceland has been on my bucket list for a while. It would be amazing to see Reykjavík, but also to use it as a base to explore the natural wonders nearby. The larger dream though would be to travel around the country, going further than Reykjavík and it’s immediate surrounding area.

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS

It seems like some sort of a crime living so close to the Netherlands and never having been there. With beautiful architecture, gorgeous canals and lots of history, it’s definitely a place I would love to visit. When I go I know that I will be spending every day eating my body weight in stroopwafels with no regrets.

SOČA VALLEY, SLOVENIA

It’s been a while since I’ve done anything adventurous. In the Soča Valley you can get up to all sorts of outdoor activities; including white water rafting and ziplining which are both things I really want to do. I’ve only ever done short ziplines before, and have never had the chance to do white water rafting. It would also be a beautiful place to go hiking and just enjoy some fresh air in the middle of nature.

LAKE GARDA, ITALY

Me and my friends talked about a dream road trip across Italy a few months back where the end destination would be Lake Garda. Italy is a country that I truly love with all my heart. I love the culture, the food and I’m a sucker for exploring ancient ruins. I’ve been privileged enough to have seen most of its top cities, but I’ve never been anywhere scenic in Italy and this seems like the perfect place.

VALLETTA, MALTA

As I sit here in my freezing cold London flat, I’m dreaming of being somewhere warmer. Malta is a place I’ve visited before, but never truly explored. I’d love the chance to go back and see more of the island. Recently I was watching a movie that filmed on location in Malta, and it reminded me of what a wonderful place it was.

ANTWERP, BELGIUM

This was another cancelled trip from last year, but it was the one I was looking forward to most. I had a cute AirBnB booked with my flatmates, had plans to meet up with my pals in Belgium, and even had tickets to a Flemish musical that I love. I can’t wait to be able to rebook this entire trip and enjoy it the way we should have last year. P.S. I really want to revisit the chocolate museum and eat all the free samples.

  1. Would love to see Lake Garda! Italy’s my favourite country. I love exploring ancient ruins too! I’ve been to lake Como before and it was already a dream, so Lake Garda must be even better, greener, more eerie…
All your picks seem like wonderful destinations honestly!
