I really enjoyed coming up with journal prompts for lyrics from ‘Lover’, so thought it would be fun to do the same with ‘Reputation’. As I don’t always know how to start writing in my journal, I often use prompts to help me focus my thoughts.
The prompts below don’t always necessarily have anything to do with the meaning of the song, but everything to do with the lyrics I pulled out. Hope you enjoy these journal prompts inspired by the Reputation era!
1. Delicate
“Phone lights up my nightstand in the black”
Reflect on how much time you spend looking at your phone screen and if you think you need to manage that better.

Think about a setback that you overcame.

Remember a time when you went out of your way to do something kind for a friend.

Talk about something that you love so much it’s constantly in your thoughts.
5. Getaway Car
“I’m in a getaway car”
If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
6. King of My Heart
“My broken bones are mending”
What can you learn from your biggest mistakes?
7. Dancing With Our Hands Tied
“I’d hold you as the water rushes in”
Remember a situation when you helped out someone who was having a rough time.
8. This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things
“Everyone swimming in a champagne sea”
An accomplishment in your life that you should be celebrating and acknowledging more.
9. Call It What You Want
“They took the crown, but it’s alright”
Write about a negative experience in your life that you have made peace with.
10. New Years Day
“Don’t read the last page”
Talk about something you just never want to end.

Oh my gosh I love this post! I’m a major Swiftie and this is such a unique idea! I feel Reputation is quite an underrated album but I absolutely love it – my favourite tracks have to be Getaway Car and New Year’s Day!

This is such a fun idea! I really struggle with things like filling out a journal and fun prompts like these are a great way to make it seem easier and more enjoyable. I’m not a Taylor fan but I’m definitely going to look into other songs that could follow the same theme x
I love the idea of creating journal prompts out of song lyrics! These are some really great things to journal about. I admit I’m not familiar with many of the songs on ‘Reputation’ – in general, I prefer Taylor Swift’s older songs x
I love her older music too, I’m very excited about her re-recordings. Especially after hearing how much more crisp the instrumentation is on the new Love Story <3

I journal sporadically, if I’m honest. But I find prompts really help give me ideas of things to write 🙂
